According to cybersecurity company Kaspersky, Facebook networks are being used by fraudsters to disseminate malware. The company claims to be selling a phoney ChatGPT desktop client. Users who inadvertently download this fake version of ChatGPT give attackers access to private data and potentially full control of their devices by unknowingly installing malware on their devices.

Users run the danger of contracting the Fobo Trojan, which may steal sensitive data including Facebook, TikTok, and Google account passwords as well as private and business financial information, in addition to the chatbot. In order to prevent falling prey to this kind of assault, the company has advised customers to take caution while browsing Facebook communities and to only download software from reputable sources.

According to the reports, users who follow the link in the Facebook post are taken to a website that resembles the ChatGPT official website. Users are encouraged to obtain a purported ChatGPT version for Windows from the website. To put the Fobo Trojan on the user’s device, the file is truly an archive with an executable file.

Even though the Trojan was already installed on the device, users experience an error notice during activation stating that the programme could not be installed. The report also states that the victim’s computer has Trojan-PSW.Win64. Fobo, the most recent stealer Malware, loaded.
