With a 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest, Arsenal moved up to second place in the Premier League. As Aston Villa’s perfect home record was ruined with a 3-1 loss to Newcastle on Tuesday. Prior to their matchup at home against leaders Liverpool on Sunday, the Gunners’ championship challenge was sustained at the City Ground with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.

The ball slipped between the legs of former Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner into the goal post. The visitors were unable to capitalize on their superior possession rate.
Saka then scored from Jesus’ cross for his tenth goal of the year.
“I have seen a lot of teams suffer at home against this team,” Arteta remarked. “I am delighted that we won the match and that we played well.”
Taiwo Awoniyi was brought in at the 89th minute. He outmuscled William Saliba to slide home, setting up a thrilling climax.
However, it was too little, too late for the Forest’s. They now sit only two points above the relegation zone. They also face losing points due to financial violations of Premier League regulations.
Schar performs admirably for Newcastle
Villa suffered their first league home loss since February of last year. This has resulted in a missed opportunity to catch up with Arsenal on 46 points.
Though they had won 16 of their previous 17 Premier League games at Villa Park under Unai Emery. The Newcastle center-back Fabian Schar set himself a mountain to climb by scoring twice from corners in the first half.
Before the game, Newcastle had the second-worst away record in the league. But they were on their way to winning their first away game since September. That was when Alex Moreno gave himself a goal under duress from Jacob Murphy.
“I was worried as the team is pretty excellent. The contradictory aspect is that we haven’t witnessed it in several weeks, according to Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, whose team has suffered greatly from injuries this year.”
“We had players making a comeback, and we seemed pretty much like ourselves.”
After scoring his first goal in seven games, Ollie Watkins cut the deficit. But his second goal was disallowed for offside.
However, Villa are currently overmatched in the hunt for a spot in the Champions League for the next season, as Tottenham can move up to fourth position by defeating Brentford on Wednesday.
Newcastle now sits in eighth place, 11 points ahead of Villa.
Luton humiliates Brighton
Elijah Adebayo’s hat-trick in a thrilling 4-0 victory over Brighton helped Luton move up out of the bottom three.
Adebayo scored the first goal with a nod after only 18 seconds, and three minutes later, Chiedozie Ogbene beat Jason Steele with a long throw over the top and walked the ball into an empty net to put the Hatters ahead 2-0.
Before the half, Adebayo made it 3-0 with a cool finish at Steele’s near post. Eleven minutes into the second half, he scored his third goal of the game.
Everton’s failure to capitalize on their opportunities in a 0-0 draw at Fulham sends them into the relegation zone.
Fears that Crystal Palace would be forced into a struggle for survival were allayed when they twice overcame Sheffield United, who were at the bottom of the table with a final score of 3-2.
Naturally, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze were the standout players as the Eagles only managed their second victory in 13 games.
Before Olise scored the game’s winning goal after the interval to propel Palace to the 14th position, Olise twice set up Eze for incredible finishes in the first half. The Blades’ Ben Brereton Diaz and James McAtee were both on target, although they are still nine points out of safety.
